Resting on their laurels.
Since
everyone’s been calling me an old man the last couple days, I figured I might
as well have one.
Old
Man Ale is as English Brown Ale from Coniston Brewing Co. in Northern
England. Perhaps you’ve heard of
them. As the label says, this beer is “From
the Brewer of The Champion Beer of Britain 1998.” Old Man Ale wasn’t the champion beer, that
honor went to Bluebird Bitter. In
1998. Thirteen years ago.
Old
Man Ale is a “live” bottle conditioned ale, with final fermentation occurring in
the bottle, which is somewhat rare for a beer imported from across the pond to
America. However, IMHO, The Old Man ain’t
so hot.
It
poured a cloudy light brown, a little malty, not a whole lot of flavor.
