Quick quiz – what does OCB stand for?

If you said Old Country Buffet, well you’ve just identified the never ending mother lode of flavorful carbohydrates, jello salad, soggy vegetables and questionable bread pudding, found in a strip mall near you, all for a reasonable price.  Two dollars more if you’d like a drink.

But in this case, you’d be wrong.  Today, OCB means Otter Creek Brewing Company of Middlebury, Vermont, which I visited in 2006.  And frequent commenter here, HHH, spent a week there honing his brewing skills.

Otter Creek was one of the first breweries in the modern age of craft breweries, starting operations in 1991.  In 2009, Otter Creek was purchased by nearby Long Trail Brewing, which has helped expand the brewing and distribution capabilities of both brewers.

Otter Summer is another pale wheat ale, slightly cloudy and gold in color.  I’ve got to say that while this beer was OK, the taste was really unremarkable.  There was nothing in particular that differentiated this beer from the other beers of summer.

Getting a little funky with today’s song… and Happy Father’s Day!
