OK, I know there’s a Green Arrow, Green Lantern (several of those), Green Hornet, and a Green Goblin.  And there’s a Red Flash and a Yellow Flash  But there’s not a Green Flash.  Never was.

Unless of course, you are talking about the Green Flash Brewing Company outside San Diego.  The brewery was started in 2002, and their beers are now distributed in 14 states and Japan.

Their West Coast IPA was on tap at the Lost Dog Café in Arlington, VA, where we grabbed dinner on our way home from  the airport. I ordered my favorite sub, which is definitely not diet friendly – the Redskin sub has beef barbecue, bacon and cole slaw.  This is the same sub I ordered there almost 16 years ago, the day after my wife delivered our daughter at Arlington hospital down the street.

This beer was a golden color, with a two finger head, and was as hoppy as you’d expect for an IPA.  Overall, it was a good beer, one that I have been wanting to try for a while.

  1. Green flash is not named after some comic book superhero but is an optical phenomenon. Check out Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash
