Hanging at the Monkey Bar

There were 10 teams in The Biggest Loser contest at work.  The top 3 or 4 teams really took it seriously, exercised a lot, radically changed their eating habits and lost a good amount of weight.  I wasn’t on one of those teams.

The members of my team, The Heinekickers, knew we really should lose some weight, and I’d say we put in moderate effort over the eight weeks to meet that goal.  Plus we had a side bet against a similar team, The Miller Lights.  The wager?  Losers buy the winners Happy Hour.  When the results were revealed, The Heinekickers and The Miller Lights were right next to each other on the scoreboard – it couldn’t have been closer.  In the end, The Heinekicker’s eeked out a narrow victory, losing 0.2% more weight than the Miller Lights.

So last night (OK, late afternoon), we met at The Monkey Bar at The Bungalow in Chantilly, to drink a few beers, eat some chicken wings and put back on all the weight we lost.

The Bungalow’s beer selection is… well… marginal.  Unless your beer of choice is Miller Lite, and then it’s just great!  I’ve had most of the more unique beers on tap there already this year, so I decided to get a Shock Top.  Shock Top is a light tasting Belgian style wheat ale introduced in 2007, and made with orange, lemon and lime peels and coriander.  I generally like it better than Blue Moon, but not as much as most wheat beers from craft breweries.
