OK, a couple stops at Total Wine (and Beer) this weekend and I am stocked up for the next couple weeks (including an upcoming Beer Run).

One of the beers I picked up was from Spain, Linda was making paella for dinner, so that was an obvious choice for the night.

Estrella Damm is brewed in Barcelona, and is a mass appeal beer – by that I mean a beer like a Budweiser or Miller, generally a lager, yellow in color, brewed with adjuncts (corn or rice) generally to lower the price, but it also weakens the taste to appeal to a broader audience.

That said, it was a decent enough beer (in a brown bottle), slight hints of citrus, and it went well with Linda’s paella.

Speaking of which, Linda made the winning paella recipe from Bobby Flay’s “Throwdown” cookbook (it was the challenger’s recipe) and it was delicious.  How does this fit into my weight loss program?  Portion control!

Yum!
